It’s been a weird week. I forgot to post on Monday because I was busy throughout the whole day. Also, I’ve been sort of drained when it hit’s the end of the day. However, I still got some songs to show you.

This song has been trending everywhere and I love it. The meaning behind it is so important and the song production and overall placement is so genius. Hands down for Childish Gambino.

This is America by Childish Gambino

Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode

Metallic Taste by Show Me The Body

Tomorrow by Kali Uchis

Give it a listen,  give music change.

Part 1: The MOM playlist

Part 1: The MOM playlist

I made a playlist inspired by my Mom’s taste in music.

One day while studying for an exam a thought came to me. I was listening to music and I realized how much my music taste has evolved and grown. I had music tasted that ranged from my mom to my dad. The time I would spend with them I remember that music was always involved in the background.

My mom played violin¬†in her younger years but other than that, her love for music came from bands and music and experiences¬†her life. I remember being in the back of the car and going through albums my mom would play. She kept a purple CD wallet thing on the floor of the car and she had so many burned CD’s. Being in the car while music played full blast was the best. I was so young, I had no idea what some of the songs or artists names were. It wasn’t until I actually got a device that I could download music on, that I learned the names of the songs and artists that were with me since birth. Later, my mom got Pandora and that’s¬†where a lot of my mom’s new music came from. A lot of this artist¬†on this playlist I made have inspired my¬†taste in music, some more than others. I know for a fact¬†that everytime my mom recommends me a song, I will more than likely like it.

Music is such a wonderful memory maker and influencer. Some of these songs make me feel very nostalgic and wish that I could hear it again for the first time. I tried my best to pick all the best songs and I only wanted to select a certain number of songs. Some of these songs were played for me as a baby, some in my teen years, and some in my adult years.

Thank You Mom For The Music!

Albums and Songs I (you) Need to Listen To

Albums and Songs I (you) Need to Listen To

Hello. So like I said so much music has been a big factor and friend in my life. Recently I have been introduced to many new songs, artists, and albums and I feel that I should make a list of these things just so we could be on the same page in the music vibe. That reminds me- I have a lot of books to read. Maybe I should make a book club or something. I know that I want to read a book during the Christmas break, and especially the summer break. Oh, I can not wait for the summer. So much is going to happen and I am so excited.

Now about music.

I’ve been sort of overplaying my Fallin Down playlist (which you should go check out on the menu), so I’ve been playing absolutely anything and any recommendations on Spotify. So I collected these songs and albums in hope to make a cumulative list.

This is not in any specific order

Albums and EPs

  • Love Child by Enjoy
  • Funk Way Bounces Vol.1 by Calvin Harris
  • Little World by Zack Villere
  • Is Everything Okay In Your World? by Yellow Days
  • This Is Fine. by Winona Forever
  • Nothing Bothers Me by Triathalon
  • Cold Shower (EP) by Triathalon
  • Boo Boo by Toro y Moi
  • Human Ceremony by Sunflower Bean
  • Vault Vol 3 by STRFKR
  • Apricot Princess by Rex Orange County
  • Ti Amo by Phoenix
  • After Laughter by Paramore
  • Green Juice by Papooz
  • Amo XO by No Vacation
  • Headroom by Men I Trust
  • Super Clean Vol. 1 (EP) by The Mar√≠as
  • The OOZ by King Krule (and I need to listen to Six Feet Beneath the Moon¬†again)
  • American Boyfriend by Kevin Abstract
  • Underwater Pipe Dreams by Inner Wave
  • Yellow and Such (EP) by Gus Dapperton
  • Powerplant by Girlpool
  • Blonde by Frank Ocean
  • Freudian by Daniel Caesar
  • Utopia by Bj√∂rk
  • Dedicated To Bobby Jameson by Ariel Pink
  • SATURATION by BROCKHAMPTON
  • Goblin by Tyler the Creator (I’ve heard some of these songs but I want to listen to it as a collective)

Singles

  • I Was a Fool by Sunflower Bean
  • Tepid Soul by Poppy Ajudha
  • Love Falls Down by Poppy Ajudha
  • Mind Fields by No Vacation
  • Hope To Be Around by Men I Trust
  • Tail Whip by Men I Trust
  • You¬†Deserve This by Men I Trust
  • Lauren by Men I Trust
  • Double L by Club Kuru
  • Best I Can by Micheal Cera feat. Sharon Van Etten

It is a long list, but that’s the point. I want to constantly¬†immerse myself in new music. I know some of these artists already and have heard few of these albums. However, I want to go back on some and really listen to them and enjoy them in its entirety. I’m not sure where to start. Maybe I’ll make separate playlists with the albums divided.

I hope you follow me and listen to these selections!

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

Now, we’re going to go back to an oldie song. Well, not that old, somewhere in the 2010’s. I remember¬†one summer I was really into two songs of¬† Foster The People’s songs in their album Supermodel.

I loved playing this song on the ukulele.

Goats in Trees

Another great one of theirs is:

Best Friend

Just hearing these songs reminds me of old memories and a time where music really helped me out,

Now I have two others songs to mention. This one is a new artist favorite in mind:

Really Something by Hector Gachan

And this next one is a favorite in general. I love The Garden twins.

Soaring by Puzzle, twin Fletcher’s project aside from The Garden

****And bonus shout out song to his new album that was released this year.****

I hope you enjoy these selections!

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

New Artist Inspiration

Of course the way I spend my morning is watching the latest YouTube videos. I was watching a video about 20 minutes ago from youtuber lindseyrem and it was about her latest summer playlist. Already from the first artist she mentioned- Puzzle aka an extension of The GardenРI was interested in what else she would mention. The next artist was Temporex

I’ve been looking for a new artist with this type of music. It’s calming, simple, and relaxing. One way I could describe this sound is that it’s rounder, polished in a way. I really enjoyed the song Nice Boys from the album We Care.¬†There is no effort to listen to and it is nice for some background sound and moments of lounging around.

This is a pretty nice find, and I can’t wait to lay back, write, read, and listen to it all summer.

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

SOTW #10

Hello my Birdies, lately I’ve been writing a lot of poetry and reading books and it slipped my mind to talk about music and my songs of the week. This is what I’ve been listening to recently:

Baby Blue by King Krule

Late Bloomers by The Growlers

I’m on my way to go listen he album Ctrl by SZA. I heard some really good things about it so I can’t wait to hear it, especially because she is a female artist.

Give it a listen, give music a change.

Day Wave Album Review: The Days We HadÔĽŅ

Lately it has been tricky for me to listen to anything else other than Mac Demarco’s lasted album This Old Dog. I know I do mention it a lot in these past few blog posts but honestly I really enjoy the music he makes and has became one of my most favorite artists. But I knew I had to broaden my horizons, and this month a few artists have release a great amount of new albums and music which I am looking forward to listen to this summer. On the same day as Mac Demarco the band Day Wave released their new album The Days We Had. I get bored during the summer and especially when I lounge in my room with nothing to do. Sometimes I decided to do work outs and I discovered that it is a great opportunity to listen to a new albums, plus it helps with boredom when I workout. Now, Day Wave has certainly out done himself with this new release. With one listen I felt completely immersed with nostalgia and calming quiet drives around town. The tracks on this album certainly convey momentum while calming with the lyrics.

For those of you who don’t know who Day Wave is, it is a Ameircan Indie rock band formed from Okland, California. The band consists with main instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Jackson Philips who formed this production in 2015. So it’s been not so long ago that Day Wave has come to the public.

In this albums, I would say that this is the type of album that is “safe and comfortable” meaning that this can appeal to any kind of modern music lover, indie or rock fan. I can play these songs while going to run errands, in the car, running, cleaning- it is a variety like this albums. Going to the beach? Kick back and play this album on your way there. The synthesized melodies correlated so well to the wispy vocals of Philips. The guitar riffs and patterns are rhythmic and catch, along with the subtle bass in the back ground. The chorus in song drops comfortable with endurance.

Songs that I enjoy ( in no particular order):

  • Something Here
  • Bring You Down
  • Wasting Time
  • Promises
  • On Your Side

I believe that artist Jackson Philips has come out of his shell to show his true artistry. He is not afraid to make the music and style he believes in. Another song that I enjoy is not from this album but a single he released called Drag in 2015. One thing I would say about this album and this style if music is that the songs do sound similar to one another. I can’t really pin point exactly what song I enjoyed because when I look for it the songs sound like one another. Production and time is good in this album, and I believe it deserves a 7.5 or an 8 out of 10. It is an enjoyable collection of songs and is nice to listen to while chilling or relaxing.

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

Hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend and listened to some awesome music! This past week I have been listening to a lot of music in my spare time and while doing that I rearranged my room. Summer brings out so much boredom so I decided to just clean, donate, and throw out a lot of junk I had. By doing that it was incredibly refreshing just to get so much cutter out. Now that I have space to relax, here is some of the songs I have been listening to

This one is a great one from the past

Take it or Leave It by Cage the Elephant

Happy Idiot by TV on the Radio

This song was recommended to me and it surprised me. I really enjoyed it and also the music video featuring Paul Rubens aka Pee Wee Herman.

Another band I’ve been listening to is Makeour Videotape an old band of Mac Demarco. This one song stuck out to me

Because I’m a boy by Makeout Videotape

And also

Heat Wave by Makeout Videotape

Thanks for dropping in, give this a like or comment!

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

Playlist 6: Summer Time Breezes

Songs of the summer make me think of loneliness. In summertime you either do nothing or do NOTHING with you time. You wither have all this money to and take vacation or you’ll being like me where I end up ¬†getting stuck at home. And not all vacations require money and going to a different country, sometimes you spend time with other people or you meet up with friends. I remember in my summer days I would just spend them alone in my house. No one would really call me or text me to do anything. Sometimes people would come over but when I think of summer I think of my ROOM because 99 percent of my time was in there. So might as well listen to music and drown in my loneliness and laziness. In a way these summers are different for me. I never like breaks because I find myself stuck alone all the time, and thats because I love being alone. I love being with myself and my music, but it is way better to share it with someone. In this playlist I’ll try to share what I like to listen to and what I have been listening to during the summer. I hope you enjoy!

  1. Summer Whisper by Tomppabeats

2. Still Beating by Mac Demarco

3. Something Here by Day Wave

Hello, today is another segment of Song(s) of the Week! Today will be a nice juicy blend of Mac Demarcooooo

I know I know…..I mention a lot about his music, but this latest album is fucking¬†incredible, especially this song:

Still Beating by Mac Demarco

There is something very special about this album, it shows growth and past reflections of new and old emotions and comtemplations. This is truly a master piece of an album. This however is not a mini album review, that will come in its own time. In this song Still Beating, from what I understand from the lyrics this song is Mac himself apologizing for his past actions of interest and silliness to others than his own lover, or girlfriend Kiki. I love this song and has now become a new favorite for me in my Mac Demarco collections. Honestly all his songs share a special place in my heart. He has got to be the only artist besides Björk, where I have listen and gave a chance to every single song he sings. I love this guy and his music.

Give it a listen, give music a chance.
