The Art Of Isolation

The Art Of Isolation

Remember that routine I told you about…

Well, today I made the effort to get ready in the morning. Having a little morning routine or some sort of routine is nice. Getting dressed for the day helps with productiveness and because of that, I was able to make this new video. 🙂

Everyone is homebound so might as well create and make to keep you occupied.

pls enjoy

The Art Of Isolation

Day 2

Taking it all in…

I guess this is day two. Right? What should this bring?

I realized that I didn’t pack enough clothes for home. I forgot my MPK to make music. I already lost two socks??? I finished High Fidelity….and I got furloughed…

Well, this was going to happen right? How would I get through my day, what will happen? When will I change out of my pj’s? Everything is going to be okay.

Today was a good day and I think it’s a matter of getting things done!

Copy of Art of isolation 2.pngI got to wake up late, made some coffee and had some leftover Chinese food. I lounged a bit and had an addictive stroll with Animal Crossing! I occasionally checked a group chat I’m in to keep me updated with work, friends, and things in Austin. I had someone over so we painting with my brother our favorite movie scenes, played goldfish, SORRY!, Operation, an electric scooter (gotta get that sunlight), and of course the switch. Watched funny videos and hung out with my family while music played in the background.

Right now I’m in my very own downtime, which is always the end of the day. I think there’s a poem that I want to write, maybe I should draw and design some things. I feel that I’m just winging it for the most part when it comes to keeping up with the boredom. I just realized that I haven’t been able to do my usual walks around Austin- this is not the time to get sad. On another note, I’m considering buying a music/maker app on my switch…and I bought it. I feel like something is missing and I think it’s my space. My OWN sanctuary. Being under curfew and quarantine in a place hasn’t been my real home in 3, heck maybe 4 years is a lot to take in. But I can work around it.

Towards the end of the day I just hung out had some spaghetti and now here I am. I still feel in a creative mood along with reflective. Taking it all in is the step to this self-isolation, this art of isolation.

I have a few questions.

What color do you feel today? How do you take it all in?

The Art Of Isolation

The Art Of Isolation

I haven’t said much about what is going on in the world, but it has definitely been on my mind. A LOT. I worry…I have fears and anxieties. And with the whole COVID-19 and paranoia of the world population, I’ve been reconsidering human reactions and morals and just the way we treat each other during a world panic, and it’s upsetting. There will be massive consequences casualties to this pandemic and we will see it in the employment rate, the economy, education, politics, and on families. The best that we can do, that I can do is be a good person. Treat each other with love and with words and good intentions. To help those in need and to seek those that can’t ask for help themselves. I  just want everyone to be okay you know, especially for the ones that I care about, and I’m sure you wish that too.

A JANUARY-FEBRUARY UPDATE

Two months have gone by and we are now in March! February seemed like the longest month ever, I thought it would never end. Not that I hate that month, it was just a buffer until March and April where spring, music, vacation, and concerts start dropping my way.

I think I’ve been lost in my own thoughts. Continue reading “-don’t be afraid of the room-“

New Harmony – An Update

New Harmony – An Update

“This night has opened my eyes…”

Hi, it’s been about a month? Maybe? And this “night” is not any particular night, its a lyric from a song that describes a lot of the first month and few weeks of the new year, and I thought I could reflect a little bit on it. Not in specifics but you know what I mean! Continue reading “New Harmony – An Update”

Hollie’s Notebook – New Skills, Personal Goals, Life Goals

Hollie’s Notebook – New Skills, Personal Goals, Life Goals

Is this a new series? I don’t know, I feel that I have a lot of ongoing series happening to holliesongbird.com. I have playlists, Songs of The Week, Monthly Updates, What’s In My Journal, Gratitude, Reviews, Favorites, and many more that I’ve been thinking about but too afraid to start. I don’t want to lose my posts within themselves, so I decided to think about reorganizing. Before I get to that, I wanted to let you know that this may or may not be a new series. I wouldn’t categorize it as a Monthly Update since it won’t be anything about what is happening in my mental health or life. These are just notes I could have written down in my note book about bettering myself, or things I plan or wish to do over the break or free time. So I hope you enjoy, I figured that If I gave an explanation for this post it might help you better understand the messes I make for myself, hahaha. Here it goes.

Gratitude – Day 6

Gratitude – Day 6

“I am grateful for today, my Birthday!”

I just want to keep this post nice and short. I know this might be a little late but I wanted to make this post.

Although my birthday was filled with school and exams – it was also filled with people that I love and that care about me.

Don’t even waste your time feeling down or stressing about something in the past or to come. The future is ahead and there are moments to be enjoyed. 💖

I had such a great and beautiful 21st Birthday!

I love everyone and I hope you all have a wonderful night!

National Gratitude Month

National Gratitude Month

National Gratitude Month

I decided to challenge myself 30 days of Gratitude…

November is the month of Gratitude and many other holidays and events that are important in my life. I decided that I should probably start something new and fresh for the blog that is also good for my self-worth and growth. I’ve been feeling down a lot and filled with anxiety. I believe this stems from the overload of stress from college and reading and constant assignments left to right. I need to step back and reevaluate myself. I don’t like this stress, I want it to go away. I thought that by starting up a daily gratitude post for the month of November would be a great way to start. I have never done this before but I have kept a gratitude journal once, I never finished it.

November was the first day of Gratitude but I was not able to write things down. So for today, you get two doses of gratitude!

Gratitude November 1st:

“I am grateful for my boyfriend”

November 1st is his birthday! Happy Birthday!

He is one of my best friends and one of few people who really know me. He cares for me and makes me laugh. He reminds me to Continue reading “National Gratitude Month”

Travel Diary #5 Taipei to Bali

Travel Diary #5 Taipei to Bali

6/2/18

We landed in Taipei, Taiwan and we only have these 24 hours to see and do as much as possible here! Before we land in Bali we decided to stop at Taiwan for a little sightseeing. We arrived around 9 and met our driver to take us to some popular attractions. Taipei definitely is different than Okinawa, Japan. There are tall buildings everywhere housing their population of 2.7 million. Transportation is different as they drive on the right side and their cars are around the medium/large side.

Everything happened so fast. It really was an experience to see a new way of the uninterrupted liveliness of the city.

The first thing we went to is the National Palace Museum. Why go to a museum? Cause I can, and also to see some beautiful and ancient art and history. The next place we went is Taipei 101, the tallest building in the world. It serves as an office/mall/shopping center. Absolutely beautiful. Breathtaking view. I recommend that this is a place you should not miss if you ever go to Taipei.

We went to this tiny village with some cute booths of sellers and artists, I decided to get a caricature of myself

And of course, we went to the night market. I’ve never been as close and crowded with strangers in my life, except maybe a concert. It was just shops and shops galore. Food vendors and trucks left and right. There was a bunch of knock-off brands too. My legs hurt so much at the end of the day.

6/3/18-6/4/18

Landed in Malaysia for the time being.

Now in Bali, Indonesia!!! I’m so tired and it’s about 4 in the morning. I’ll see you in the next post!

Travel Dairy #4 Hacksaw Ridge,Sugar Slope, Kokusai Street, Sea Glass Beach

5/28/18

Today I went to Hacksaw Ridge. Last time I was in Okinawa my Dad made me watch the movie yet we didn’t get to go visit the actual place. So on Memorial Day, we visited two monuments, Hacksaw Ridge and Sugar Slope. Each place had such a beautiful view of Okinawa and the plant life. The amount of green you can see was just so vibrant and fulfilling. Later that day we went to Kokusai street which is a really popular shopping area and market. Last time I went there, I was extremely hot. I was in Japan during July, around the time the heat is terrible. This time was a lot better since it was night time in June. But of course, it’s always humid. I think I’ll go back there towards the end of the month so I can buy boxes of cakes and cookies to take back home for my family and friends.

5/30/18

Beth and I went to the beach! Finally! I’ve been wanting to go so bad since like the start of the summer. I love the beach! The beaches in Okinawa have very rough and harsh and full of broken shells and seaweed so I would recommend buying water shoes to wear in the water. Also, there are really poisonous fishes inside shells, so when you step on it their back the stinger will reach and poke you. So wear water shoes! We did snorkeling which was kind of wear at first because you had to breath through your mouth into the tube.

I had a great time at the beach, I also didn’t get sunburned! 🙂
