Mac Demarco is currently out with a new album called Here Comes The Cowboy, a 13 track collection of songs that do not fall to audiences expectations. At first listen there is confusion, uncertainty, and eventual skips to the end. However, this albums does have moments of shine and solitude, this work is definitely a personal and unapologetic view into Demarco’s diary and solitude. This album focuses on what Continue reading “Here Comes The Cowboy – Mac Demarco Album Review”
I thought it was pretty neat that Spotify did this for their listeners…
Well, it is coming to the end of the Year and I wanted to share with you my wrap up of the year 2017. Now, for a lot of people 2017 has been a shit year- and I can’t agree with you more. But some of it has been really great. I have special people in my life, and I have wonderful music to accompany me. This was the year that I decided to change my major and to do something that I love and that I know I want to improve in. It’s been a year full of music and emotional roller coaster, and what I’m thankful for was making it out in the end.
My top songs of 2017 are definitely me. Mac Demarco has been one of the biggest influences and highlight of my year. I can’t believe I had the chance to see him. I have to admit, it was one of the greatest most surreal moments of my life. Tyler the Creator has been a big hello for me. I remember it was nighttime in Japan and Tyler just released his newest album. I remember my boyfriend reminding me to listen to it. It was so beautiful and we both automatically had our favorites.
With this playlist below, some of the songs I did listen too. But I’m glad they gave me some new recommendations! Rex Orange County and Clario have been reoccurring artists for me and becoming some of my newest favorites.
Sometimes I feel like my mind is overloaded with music. But I think it’s great inspiration for me to write music and get started on projects and writing. I have so many ideas that are waiting to be released. I really should get to work on them!
I hope you guys had a good 2017. I know it must have been hard, but at least the music has been there for mine and your support. Music is love!
Damn. I can’t believe I completely forgot about this, but after all, it was the holidays. For my songs of the week, I’ve been going back to a lot of my favorites. This is what I got for you…
Passing Out Pieces by Mac Demarco
This has always been a favorite of mine, the words really mean a lot. The video is weird, but what isn’t weird anymore.
Flamming Hot Cheetos by Clario
She’s one of the inspirations for me to start making music.
Fucking Young by Tyler the Creator
I hope you enjoy these songs! You’ll be hearing from me soon.
Give it a listen, give music a chance.
ON OCTOBER 1 I attended a concert for one of my most favorite artists ever
What I forgot was that The Garden is touring with Mac Demarco’s group. I bought these tickets to ACL Live about maybe six months ago and what I only new what that The Flamming Lips was performing with a opening performance of Mac Demarco (which is who I really wanted to see, but I do like The Flamming Lips). Anyway, I had no idea that The Garden was going to perform. The week before the concert I kept getting emails reminding me to print my tickets before the concert. At the end of the email it had the line up which was:
The Garden 8:00
Mac Demarco 8:50
Flamming Lips 10:40
And I completely flipped out. My boyfriend told me not to get my hopes up. But why would they even put that in the email? Was my ticket finally fully worth what I was paying for. And what do you know…….The Garden came out and did an amazing set. Nothing could describe how happy I was to see them. Me and RJ where up in the balcony assigned seating in the first row so the view was perfect. The only problem was that no one in the balcony wanted to stand and jam out. Technically the population of the crowd was 80% in their forties with no idea who Mac Demarco or The Garden was. Me and RJ were itching so bad to stand up but we didn’t because we would block people behind us. Next time though, we will see Mac in the pit. Damn, I can’t even describe the feeling when I saw him, it was so surreal.
Damn, twenty songs of the week in. I actually have a good list of songs of the week. Recently I went to a concert for Mac Demarco and a surprise opening of The Garden! But I will talk about that in another post.
These are my songs of the week 😉
I realized that it has been a very long time since I have made a playlist of songs for you. I am so sorry for that! It honestly slipped my mind and it never thought about again. Now, every time I sit down with my laptop open and a fresh blank blog post- if I have writers block I know what to write/make- a playlist!
Since the summer I have come upon some new music. The excitement of concerts coming up this October has gotten me hyped for music. All of these are sort of in the same genre, this not the only music I listen to but it has been circling in my daily music plays. This is what I have for you and I hope you enjoy it :).
Where This Flower Blooms by Tyler The Creator
Amor de Siempre by CUCO
I have been waiting for this album for a very very long time. And at last it finally came out on May 5, the day before I went to see Chance The Rapper. Mac Demarco is coming clean in this brand new side of himself in the album This Old Dog. In this album we a given a collective storyline of emotions through all the tracks. From the first song My Old Man to the last in Watching Him Fade Way. I had very very high expectations for his new release since I have saturated myself in the depths of Demarcos past albums.
Hello, today is another segment of Song(s) of the Week! Today will be a nice juicy blend of Mac Demarcooooo
I know I know…..I mention a lot about his music, but this latest album is fucking incredible, especially this song:
There is something very special about this album, it shows growth and past reflections of new and old emotions and comtemplations. This is truly a master piece of an album. This however is not a mini album review, that will come in its own time. In this song Still Beating, from what I understand from the lyrics this song is Mac himself apologizing for his past actions of interest and silliness to others than his own lover, or girlfriend Kiki. I love this song and has now become a new favorite for me in my Mac Demarco collections. Honestly all his songs share a special place in my heart. He has got to be the only artist besides Björk, where I have listen and gave a chance to every single song he sings. I love this guy and his music.
Give it a listen, give music a chance.
