Honestly…

The only person I’ve been listening to every day since April 6 is: KALI UCHIS

Who cannot love a Queen like her? She is by far one of my favorites music icons ever. I can’t even remember the first time I heard of her. I’m pretty sure I wrote a post about her as a new artist discovery.

I know Cardi B came out with a new album on the same day but I have yet to listen to it. Kali Uchis was here first for me and I can’t let my Colombia Queen not get her light to shine.

ISOLATION in its entirety is beautiful. Song after song she surprises me and makes my ear holes cry for more. These are a couple of songs that are my favorites (excluding her singles released before the album release)….

Playlist: 🌸Springtime🌸

Playlist: 🌸Springtime🌸

Hello! Tuesday began the first day of spring. To continue our seasonal playlists, I made a Springtime playlist. I would have posted it on Tuesday but I already had another post scheduled for that day. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a playlist but I’ve been working on a project involving playlists (which will come in time). In my opinion, most of the songs are pretty chill. I collect these songs with no a particular thing or idea in mind, just the fact that I really like these songs :). New songs might be added in time or throughout the season. I really hope you enjoy the playlist, Spotify link is below!

A Late Resolutions List

A Late Resolutions List

I know it’s the 20th of January but I was thinking about my New Years Resolutions. I believe that the best kind of resolutions is the ones you naturally do with no force, and without writing down. Sort of like internal goals you have always been wishing to do but never do it. For example, I was always scared to drive. I had panic attacks and anxiety thinking about driving and the fear of messing up. But one day I decided to just grab the keys and go drive around the neighboorhood. Then I decided to drive to my boyfriend’s house which is about 30-40 to go. And by realizing what I was doing I knew I would have to take him back home AND drive myself back within that day. And I felt good. I conquered my fear. Internally I knew that was one of my resolutions and I accomplished it with simple effort.

Now that got me thinking. I should have a resolutions list, just to keep track and remind myself of the lifestyle I want for 2018. One of them would be running and healthy eating. Now, I walk a lot about few miles every day. But I wanted to push myself more. As soon as I got back to campus I started going to the free gym for my apartment. It just started happening and I have never felt better. I even got all my roommates to start coming with me and my boyfriend to the gym!

Change is good, especially if it is for the better of your life and others. I hope that you will sit down and realize that making a change, for whatever kind of reason, is worth the beautiful mindset you will have in the end.

These are my resolutions.

MY RESOLUTIONS

December: Monthly Catch Up

December: Monthly Catch Up

Hey!

So currently I am on Christmas Break, which is pretty great considering I have almost a whole month of no school. I have time to do things, to read, write, make music, and do mostly nothing.

Now this month has been interesting- emotionally. I feel like that’s usually the case when it involves the beginning of the month, or towards the ending of the month. I know I have not been doing so great with my writing/blogging portion, but I have drafts that are waiting to be published, I’ve literally been taking a break and contemplating about a lot of things, which I should write down. I’ve also been thinking about changing the style of my blog, but that’s on the thinking block.

So Christmas was really nice! I did get great gifts and caught up with my family and friends. I always believed it was so weird having so many people in your home, with so much noise and questions. It still is weird. But besides that, we have the new year to look forward too. Yes, 2018. It is fascinating to think that the year has already come to an end. I can’t even remember some of the things that have happened, so many things that have been lost, gained, learned, failed, succeeded. 2017 has been a really long year for some of us. But one interesting thing for us Texans is that it snowed. 🙂

My family’s lives have changed, people are growing, they moved to a new house. I have a different room now, all empty and unlived in. I think I’ve gotten used to it all, even if the house is 30 minutes away from my hometown. That’s what makes it hard, to be far from my friends and boyfriend, and the closeness of them all.

I feel like this time would be perfect for me to keep working on my writing and music. My only problem is procrastination and no motivation. But I hope I can whip myself back to where I want to be. I’ve been listening to a lot of music and watching a lot of movies, so maybe there might be a spark of inspiration there.

I hope to hear from ya’ll in the next year! (don’t worry I’m not leaving)

Albums and Songs I (you) Need to Listen To

Albums and Songs I (you) Need to Listen To

Hello. So like I said so much music has been a big factor and friend in my life. Recently I have been introduced to many new songs, artists, and albums and I feel that I should make a list of these things just so we could be on the same page in the music vibe. That reminds me- I have a lot of books to read. Maybe I should make a book club or something. I know that I want to read a book during the Christmas break, and especially the summer break. Oh, I can not wait for the summer. So much is going to happen and I am so excited.

Now about music.

I’ve been sort of overplaying my Fallin Down playlist (which you should go check out on the menu), so I’ve been playing absolutely anything and any recommendations on Spotify. So I collected these songs and albums in hope to make a cumulative list.

This is not in any specific order

Albums and EPs

  • Love Child by Enjoy
  • Funk Way Bounces Vol.1 by Calvin Harris
  • Little World by Zack Villere
  • Is Everything Okay In Your World? by Yellow Days
  • This Is Fine. by Winona Forever
  • Nothing Bothers Me by Triathalon
  • Cold Shower (EP) by Triathalon
  • Boo Boo by Toro y Moi
  • Human Ceremony by Sunflower Bean
  • Vault Vol 3 by STRFKR
  • Apricot Princess by Rex Orange County
  • Ti Amo by Phoenix
  • After Laughter by Paramore
  • Green Juice by Papooz
  • Amo XO by No Vacation
  • Headroom by Men I Trust
  • Super Clean Vol. 1 (EP) by The Marías
  • The OOZ by King Krule (and I need to listen to Six Feet Beneath the Moon again)
  • American Boyfriend by Kevin Abstract
  • Underwater Pipe Dreams by Inner Wave
  • Yellow and Such (EP) by Gus Dapperton
  • Powerplant by Girlpool
  • Blonde by Frank Ocean
  • Freudian by Daniel Caesar
  • Utopia by Björk
  • Dedicated To Bobby Jameson by Ariel Pink
  • SATURATION by BROCKHAMPTON
  • Goblin by Tyler the Creator (I’ve heard some of these songs but I want to listen to it as a collective)

Singles

  • I Was a Fool by Sunflower Bean
  • Tepid Soul by Poppy Ajudha
  • Love Falls Down by Poppy Ajudha
  • Mind Fields by No Vacation
  • Hope To Be Around by Men I Trust
  • Tail Whip by Men I Trust
  • You Deserve This by Men I Trust
  • Lauren by Men I Trust
  • Double L by Club Kuru
  • Best I Can by Micheal Cera feat. Sharon Van Etten

It is a long list, but that’s the point. I want to constantly immerse myself in new music. I know some of these artists already and have heard few of these albums. However, I want to go back on some and really listen to them and enjoy them in its entirety. I’m not sure where to start. Maybe I’ll make separate playlists with the albums divided.

I hope you follow me and listen to these selections!

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

For this song of the week I’ve been listening to a lot of Rex Orange County. Reason being is that it’s all my boyfriend has been playing everyday lol. But hey, I like it. We actually stumbled upon him when I was watching music videos for Jakob Ogawa and I saw a video for Rex Orange County, and since then my boyfriend has been hooked listening to him every day. We were surprised to find out that Rex was featured in two of Tyler The Creators songs in his new album Flower Boy. Damn this music world is so diverse and interconnected. I love it so much

This is the video we watched

Learning about these new artists just feels so rewarding and welcoming. New music is good to expose yourself to.

30 Days of Poetry: Day #1

30 Days of Poetry: Day #1

Hello! This is the first day starting my 30 Days of Poetry Challenge. In advance- may mess up with some consistency in these first 3 days. I have a lot on my plate and I forgot to plan my days correctly. But I hope you enjoy this! Maybe I’ll even make a playlist of songs I listened to when I made these poems. This is going to be interesting…lets see how it goes! 🙂

Day #1: Write a poem about hellos.

7:00 am

A welcoming smile is brighter than the sun

But the sun brings me a blanket over the night

And when the night greets my eyes

I am hugged to sleep

Headless and Heavy, everyone might be sleeping in

But I make the time to say hello to my consciousness.

12:00 pm

People awkwardly make eye contact because it is the normal thing to do

When you see someone in the hallway they find you too

And the sincere wave and smile

Never goes further than that, unless there is more

What was their name again?

4:00 pm

After the crowd of introductions and papers

Speakers whom you forget their name….

I embrace your still stature, and together we walk to our respective.

This the welcome that never gets old.

I know your name and I know their names

How great is it to see you again

11:00 pm

Headless and heavy, I see the overcast of sleep

And It asks me to be their friend while I can barely hold myself up

My eyes crisscross feet and focus on focusing

Good times roll, and punching media and essays of what comes next

Hands on the side and jeans off

I take it slowly and lay still.

31-01

the gentle fall of

leaves begins and starts the

new November days

I think of all warmth

but get refreshed with cold

cold October days

Here’s the last one day

to give us the day one

of another year

Slightly different

and the numbers only change

what was once, was there

Can I just say that music is the best thing in the world. Besides peace and happiness, music is the closest thing to this. I hope everyone’s weekend has been good. I hope you got to rest and had time to relax. I got to go back home this weekend which was a wonderful little break from school. I really needed it. But back to the topic! The SOTW are:

You Might be Sleeping by Jakob Ogawa, and Clario

This is a new artist that has popped up in my music station a lot, these are the songs that I can remember so far.

Let It Pass by Jakob Ogawa

He has pretty calm Lo-Fi music which I’m sure anyone would like to listen to. I hope you give these a listen! See you next time!

Give it a listen, give music a Chance.

Stage 2

But the next day comes

And I find it better with people

If me -myself- and I

were to keep holding the boulder

It doesn’t matter and distracts,

when a few words from you, him, and her

make me work harder

But the day passes by

and I find I am still tacked

rather than filled and webbed with the

cracks

I can’t remember once I talk about it twice

thrice

What it was that made me sigh

And I realized that my mind

lies

Starting the Semester

Starting the Semester

So I am officially moved in to my apartment with six other people. It really isn’t that all bad. I like everyone and so far things have been good. I am really nervous and excited about school. Im going to be so busy this semester and incredible independent. I feel that this year there is more academic work for me, honestly it is. More reading and writing, which is a good thing. This is a test for my ability and skills and how I will work it all out by myself. But hey, I’ve done it once I can do it again.

I will say…the best thing about this semester is the fact that I have an apartment. It is so much better than living in the dorm. I just got so sick of always being on the campus at all times. I may be only a street away from the campus but it does make a difference.

I have 17 hours of classes, its going to be fukin crazy

But hey, I’m in Austin, one of the best cities. I should have the time for myself. The only thing that I get tired of is walking everywhere and how far it is. But hey, good exercise is a good health mind. Don’t forget that! I am not even sure why I was writing this in the first place. I guess it is just an update of what this week has to offer. My weeks and months are going to consist

Who ever you are, what ever you are doing- I hope that you have great rest of the year. Be it college, work, highschool, home life- whatever applies to you.

Album Review: Mac Demarco This Old Dog

I have been waiting for this album for a very very long time. And at last it finally came out on May 5, the day before I went to see Chance The Rapper. Mac Demarco is coming clean in this brand new side of himself in the album This Old Dog. In this album we a given a collective storyline of emotions through all the tracks. From the first song My Old Man to the last in Watching Him Fade Way. I had very very high expectations for his new release since I have saturated myself in the depths of Demarcos past albums.
