Hello everyone!

I am officially on summer vacation! I finished the last assignment I had and I am free! Lately, I haven’t been listening to music as frequently but I have a few albums that I’m planning to listen to. Plus, the summer means free time so I have all the time to do things.

A Dancing Shell by Wild Nothing

I was walking around SOCO and I walked into a store and they were playing this song. I knew that I knew it but I couldn’t pinpoint it. I still use Shazam so I ended up figuring it out.

Drag by Day Wave

Go check out the album review I did for Day Wave here

Free Bird by Lynard Skynard

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

Hello everyone! Lately, I’ve been working on a lot of things for the vlog and preparing and brainstorming so many ideas! It makes me so excited to show and release it but I know I should probably space out these ideas and content. But back to the Songs Of The Week!

Lately, I’ve been listening to my Mom and Dad playlists. If you haven’t listened to them then go check out the posts right here and here.

But if I were to pick some songs to show you guys I would pick…

OKRA by Tyler The Creator

Ice Melts by Matt and Kim

I’ve been listening to a lot of them lately during my workouts and running. I’m still fangirling them since the time I went to their concert. They’re great to just jam to or work out to.

Dreams by The Cranberries

If I were to do a cover of a song I would love to do this one. This is a beautiful song about fall in love for the first time. I love it and it’s a classic.

That is pretty much what I have in store for you today! Like I said, I’ve been mostly listening to my two latest playlists. Go show it some love!

Give it a listen, give music a chance!

Part 2: The DAD playlist

Part 2: The DAD playlist

I made a playlist inspired by my Dad’s taste in music.

One day while studying for an exam a thought came to me. I was listening to music and I realized how much my music taste has evolved and grown. I had music tasted that ranged from my mom to my dad. The time I would spend with them I remember that music was always involved in the background.

I don’t think my had has ever played an instrument in his life. I also wonder how my Dad, who can’t hold a tune, can produce a child like me that has sung all her life. But I will say, my Dad LOVES music. I think music helped him in so many ways in his life. He is in the military, and I remember him telling me that he downloaded a ton of music into his iPod so he can listen to it on trips or on the ships he had to stay in. Sucky thing is, he never had the name of the artist on the song files so it took him months until he could find the name of the song he fell in love with at the time. I remember that whenever he would visit he would show me a new singer or band. That eventually became the soundtrack to our time that we got to spend together. He would get my computer and download every song he had on his hard drive to my music library. Sometimes we would play a song so much throughout the day we would call it our Song of the Week, which inspired my SOTW that I write on this blog!

Music is such a wonderful memory maker and influencer. Some of these songs make me feel very nostalgic and wish that I could hear it again for the first time. I tried my best to pick all the best songs and I only wanted to select a certain number of songs. Some of these songs were played for me as a baby, some in my teen years, and some in my adult years.

Thank You Dad For The Music!

For this week’s Songs of The Week, it is sort of scattered all over the place. I feel like I haven’t had time to enjoy any of my music due to a past stressful week with exams and other stupid problems.

First I’ve been going back to my favorite Mac Demarco! (heh heh surprise!). I’ve been listening to his demo’s for the album Another One. These are my picks from there:

Another week of February! This is month has been going by really fast. This past week I’ve been listening to a lot of female front voices. One great goodie is…

Vacation by Florist

I’ve always really liked this song and it reminds me of my Dad. I showed him this song and he really liked it, I figured he would.

Recently I’ve been listening to Girlpool’s latest album, and I’ve heard that they released a new single. But one song that I can’t take out of my mind is…

It Gets More Blue by Girlpool

I don’t know why, but this so is so addicting to me. I vividly remember hearing this song live and it was so attractive to me. I wish I could hear that song again in person, or at least recorded it, but that’s what makes the memory special.

Try by Soccer Mommy

This song I just heard on Sunday and I love it. It was recommended from Spotify since I like Girlpool.

These songs make me feel good and I hope you enjoy listening to them!

Give it a listen, give music a chance!

Hello! This is the second week of school for me and I’m pretty happy with all the classes I ended up with! Lately, I’ve been listening to a new band called Mild High Club. I remember them being one of my recommended bands and common plays on similar stations.

I decided to listen to their first album called Timeline.

My favorite songs would have to be

I’ve just been listening to this song on repeat every day. I can’t get enough of their psychedelic pop sound. This music genre is pretty addictive for me, but in my defense, it’s calming to me. I like to lsiten to it while I’m walking between classes.

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

This week was the start of school. I went through some crisis with classes, registration, and financial aid. However, I prevailed! I heard some devastating news about Dolores O’riordan. The main singer and iconic voice of the Cranberries has passed away.

So recently I’ve been reminiscing two of my most favorite songs from The Cranberries

The Cranberries – Forever Yellow Skies

The Cranberries – Dreams

I shocked me to hear this news. Her voice has always been one of my inspirations to sing. She was a fashion icon- a beautiful musician and soul. Her music brings so much nostalgia when I was little. I remember being in the car and my mother playing their songs on the radio. I remember getting my first iPod and my Dad putting songs by The Cranberries.

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

Winter and New Years Playlist

Winter and New Years Playlist

I made this playlist last year in December. But since its going to be cold for the time being, here is my Chillz playlist of 2017-2018. I won’t be taking out any songs or sorting it, but I will add more songs and artists. If it ends up being too messy I’ll make a more organized playlist. I originally created this one to keep all the new songs I found from the band Triathalon and Twin Peaks. I hope you enjoy it!

My Spotify Wrapped 2017

My Spotify Wrapped 2017

I thought it was pretty neat that Spotify did this for their listeners…

Well, it is coming to the end of the Year and I wanted to share with you my wrap up of the year 2017. Now, for a lot of people 2017 has been a shit year- and I can’t agree with you more. But some of it has been really great. I have special people in my life, and I have wonderful music to accompany me. This was the year that I decided to change my major and to do something that I love and that I know I want to improve in. It’s been a year full of music and emotional roller coaster, and what I’m thankful for was making it out in the end.

My top songs of 2017 are definitely me. Mac Demarco has been one of the biggest influences and highlight of my year. I can’t believe I had the chance to see him. I have to admit, it was one of the greatest most surreal moments of my life.  Tyler the Creator has been a big hello for me. I remember it was nighttime in Japan and Tyler just released his newest album. I remember my boyfriend reminding me to listen to it. It was so beautiful and we both automatically had our favorites.IMG_1898

With this playlist below, some of the songs I did listen too. But I’m glad they gave me some new recommendations! Rex Orange County and Clario have been reoccurring artists for me and becoming some of my newest favorites.

Sometimes I feel like my mind is overloaded with music. But I think it’s great inspiration for me to write music and get started on projects and writing. I have so many ideas that are waiting to be released. I really should get to work on them!

I hope you guys had a good 2017. I know it must have been hard, but at least the music has been there for mine and your support. Music is love!

Told You So by Paramore

Waiting Room by Rex Orange County

Prune, You Talk Funny by Gus Dapperton

I Want It by Triathalon

Hello! The beginning of this week was pretty stressful. I still have one more assignment left to do and hopefully, I can get it done without burning a hole in my brain. I meant to post yesterday but time was too precious. What I’ve been listening too lately are three artists. Two of them I discovered not too long ago.

Blue Coupe by Twin Peaks

I know this was like one of their first top five songs, but this is a really good one. This is a feel-good song.

Next song is…actually a collective. It’s a whole album by…

Triathalon with their album Nothing Bothers Me

Next is a song by Sufjan Stevens

Mystery of Love

I hope you enjoy these songs! I’ve been so stressed lately, these songs sure do help tone it down.

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

Hello!!!!!! This is sort of my week day of class so I am pretty excited for the break. This weeks songs of the week have been…

Micheal Cera’s newest release Best I Can made for the new 2017 romantic-documentary Dina. I discovered this song a while back when it was first released. Since then I have fallen in love with this song. There is this type of innocence and tenderness of love you can hear and it is just so beautiful to the ears.

Best I Can by Micheal Cera feat Sharon Van Etten

Another song I’ve been listening to is…

I Was a Fool by Sunflower Bean

Two Extra Pumps Of Bliss by Enjoy

I’ve really enjoyed these songs a lot. It was something new and fresh to find and I hope to find more songs. If you want to hear more songs and different albums please go read my post here.

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

Albums and Songs I (you) Need to Listen To

Albums and Songs I (you) Need to Listen To

Hello. So like I said so much music has been a big factor and friend in my life. Recently I have been introduced to many new songs, artists, and albums and I feel that I should make a list of these things just so we could be on the same page in the music vibe. That reminds me- I have a lot of books to read. Maybe I should make a book club or something. I know that I want to read a book during the Christmas break, and especially the summer break. Oh, I can not wait for the summer. So much is going to happen and I am so excited.

Now about music.

I’ve been sort of overplaying my Fallin Down playlist (which you should go check out on the menu), so I’ve been playing absolutely anything and any recommendations on Spotify. So I collected these songs and albums in hope to make a cumulative list.

This is not in any specific order

Albums and EPs

  • Love Child by Enjoy
  • Funk Way Bounces Vol.1 by Calvin Harris
  • Little World by Zack Villere
  • Is Everything Okay In Your World? by Yellow Days
  • This Is Fine. by Winona Forever
  • Nothing Bothers Me by Triathalon
  • Cold Shower (EP) by Triathalon
  • Boo Boo by Toro y Moi
  • Human Ceremony by Sunflower Bean
  • Vault Vol 3 by STRFKR
  • Apricot Princess by Rex Orange County

  • American Boyfriend by Kevin Abstract
  • Underwater Pipe Dreams by Inner Wave
  • Yellow and Such (EP) by Gus Dapperton
  • Powerplant by Girlpool
  • Blonde by Frank Ocean
  • Freudian by Daniel Caesar
  • Utopia by Björk
  • Dedicated To Bobby Jameson by Ariel Pink
  • SATURATION by BROCKHAMPTON
  • Goblin by Tyler the Creator (I’ve heard some of these songs but I want to listen to it as a collective)

Singles

  • I Was a Fool by Sunflower Bean
  • Tepid Soul by Poppy Ajudha
  • Love Falls Down by Poppy Ajudha
  • Mind Fields by No Vacation
  • Hope To Be Around by Men I Trust
  • Tail Whip by Men I Trust
  • You Deserve This by Men I Trust
  • Lauren by Men I Trust
  • Double L by Club Kuru
  • Best I Can by Micheal Cera feat. Sharon Van Etten

It is a long list, but that’s the point. I want to constantly immerse myself in new music. I know some of these artists already and have heard few of these albums. However, I want to go back on some and really listen to them and enjoy them in its entirety. I’m not sure where to start. Maybe I’ll make separate playlists with the albums divided.

I hope you follow me and listen to these selections!

Give it a listen, give music a chance.

These next songs of the week are sort of a surprise for me. Especially since I was surprised by Björk’s newest single. As for the song by The The, I heard it on a trailer for the movie Lady Bird, but I believe I’ve known this song for a long time, I just could never pinpoint what it was called. Well, I hope you enjoy these new songs of the week!

Blissing me by Björk

This song gives me so much inspiration for my future writings. Like I said in a previous post, I can’t wait for Björk’s upcoming album!

This is the Day by The The

That Easy by Yellow Days

This is a song I like to play in my Fallin Down Playlist. He recently released a new album, including this song.

Give it a listen give music a chance.
